Nobody earns a respawn. You don't apply for one, negotiate for one, or deserve one. The system just puts you back, at the checkpoint, with your gear, a few seconds later.
That's a genuinely reassuring way to think about the worst weeks. The reset isn't a reward for handling it well. It's a feature. It happens whether or not you're ready, and it happens quickly.
And "just" is the whole timing
Just respawned. Moments ago. Still getting your bearings, haven't started moving yet.
That's a specific place to be — the disoriented few seconds after something went badly and before the next attempt begins. Not recovered. Not defeated either. Back on the map, reorienting.
Most people wearing this are somewhere in that window. It's a much more honest position than "bouncing back."
The cap it's on
This is one of our two performance caps, and it's built for movement.
63% polyester, 34% cotton, 3% spandex. The spandex is why it moves with you and stays put instead of shifting when you do.
Closed back with an elastic stretch band — no snap, no buckle, nothing hard at the back of your head. That matters under a hood, against a headrest, or lying down, and it's why this construction gets used for athletic caps.

This is one of only two caps we make that comes in sizes, and it has no adjuster.

To measure: wrap a non-stretchable tape around your head, keeping it 1″ (2.5 cm) above your ears, and note where it meets.
If you land between 22⅜″ and 22¾″, either will fit — the difference is how it sits. S/M runs closer to the head with a slightly lower crown. L/XL has a little more room and stands marginally taller. Want a snugger athletic fit? Take S/M. Want a bit of room? L/XL.

Just the mark. No question attached to it.
Which means the instruction faces whoever you're talking to, and the tool faces everyone you walk away from. You've told them to ask better questions and then left wearing one, unanswered, unassigned to anything.
It's the most open version of the idea available. A question mark on its own doesn't ask anything — it just sits there being available, which is roughly the correct posture.
What does it mean? That something went wrong recently and you're back — automatically, at the checkpoint, still getting your bearings. The word contains the failure rather than glossing over it.
Why "respawned" and not "restarted"? Because respawning presumes you died first, it happens automatically rather than being earned, and it's immediate. Those three things together describe the position much better than "starting over" does.
Do I need to be a gamer? No, though gamers own the word and will read it fastest. It transfers to anyone who's had something go badly and is at the start of the next attempt.
What size should I get? S/M fits 21¼″–22¾″, L/XL fits 22⅜″–23⅞″. This is one of only two caps we make with sizes and no adjuster. Measure 1″ above your ears. If you're between 22⅜″ and 22¾″, either works — S/M sits closer, L/XL has more room.
Why is there no snapback? It's a closed-back cap with an elastic stretch band, so there's no hardware at the back of your head. More comfortable under a hood, against a headrest, or lying down.
What's the silver undervisor for? It reflects light rather than absorbing it, cutting the glare that bounces up off the underside of the brim.
Is the camo real camouflage? Multicam Black and Multicam Green are genuine multi-terrain patterns, not novelty prints.
How do I clean it? Spot clean with cool water and mild detergent, air dry on a form. Don't machine wash — the structured crown loses shape and the elastic band degrades.
